At first I thought this was simply an outstanding doctoral thesis from the University of Chicago. Then l learned it is the original basis for the book "Doctoring Freedom: The Politics of African-American Medical Care in Slavery and Emancipation" by Margaret Gretchen Long. It is a well-written book with many illuminating examples and interviews. About 6.5" x 8.5", 317 pages.
Excellent condition with some minor shelf wear but unread.
