    Description

WORLD WAR II AIRCRAFT COCKPIT LIGHT. LAMP ASSEMBLY B7. OLD STOCK, NEVER USED
This is a must for a WWII collector, or someone restoring an old WWII aircraft.
    This was purchased
    in the 1980s at
Oxman’s Surplus store in California.  The owner was in WWII and had a position that involved supply duties.
It is in VERY GOOD condition.
There are no dents or scratches on it.
The black paint on the face and lettering are not rusty or scratched.
There is one small scuff on the corner of the black face plate.
    (see picture).
    Dimensions: The aluminum case is:  2 15/16” X 3¼” X 3 11/16”.
    The face plate is 3 1/16”X 3 3/8” X 5/16”.
Adding the 5/16” to 3 11/16” makes the total length at 4 1/16”.
The lamp fixture pulls from the housing against the spring-loaded reel inside the unit.
The reel mechanism latches with the lamp extended.
With a slight tug on the lamp fixture the reel will retract the cord and the lamp
    fixture into
    the housing.
The lamp fixture nests in a cradle on the face plate.
The function could be described as working similar to an old-style roller window shade.
The lamp cord is in surprisingly great condition.
There are no cracks in the rubber wire sheath.
And the rubber is still soft and supple.
I did not attempt to put power to the unit so I cannot tell you that a lamp would light.
    (A lamp is not included).
But, looking at unit’s condition, I would expect that a lamp would light as intended.
Stamped on the original box is information regarding the OATSC protective wrap on the box.
    A handwritten date of:
15 June 1945 is within that label.
It includes the original box and two copies of the original Installation and Operation Instructions.
The decal on the light assembly states:
